Romain Rolland's Description of Beethoven

by Luke

From Biographer Romain Rolland's description:
"...his color became sickly and yellow, especially in the winter after he had been remaining indoors far from the fields...extraordinarily thick hair through which it seemed a comb had never passed, veritable bristling 'serpents of Medusa'...eyes dilated in a peculiar way under the influence of inspiration....nose, short and broad with the nostrils of a lion...lower lip somewhat prominent...very strong jaws which could easily break nuts..."
