Schumann's finger

Luke: Schumann injured his hand in the machine that was meant to fix it. He couldn't play the piano.
JM: How do you think that made him feel?
Luke: Not so good.

"A Good Machine"

Joe came up with this title right after he finished it--- (I wish I had such an easy time with titles!)
Joe: "yeah, I do... art machine."

Bear on Campus!

Josh made this picture this morning- (with John's permission).
JM: So John, do you think you could win in a fight with this bear?
JK: I think so...I might.

Sting's bus tour (singing to Jeff)

Here's what Jeff is working on today---he thinks he'll have it finished
by next week. He likes the progress he's making drawing shapes with the mouse. We'll see what celebrity/musician he works with next time.
JM: Anything else?
Jeff: Thanks for the cake, Dianne!

Handflower

Karen took a break from her usual greeting card production to create this image on the computer. (The middle black "Handflower" is made out of glove clip art.)
Although now that it's finished, Karen says this could also be a Christmas card.
She also invented a new word today-
"I'm stress-rated!"
What? Frustrated?
"No."
Stressed?
"No, stress-rated."

John's work from June 18

Luke's Portrait

I like looking at Laura's car. She has a nice car. She drives it to work and back home. We wait for her every day. We see her every day when she comes to work. We love her.

Written by Luke

Luke's current work

Robert talking to Clara in Heaven about their music and they are having fun. The old Clara is playing the piano, and Robert is composing music for other people to hear and they are having fun together.

This is a storm cloud and it is night time. The moon is out, and the stars, and they are having a nice time.

Bye, Luke

John and Michelle

This morning John was showing me his collection of Obama pictures. We found this image of a young Michelle Obama online and John created a collage from it.
Jennifer: What would you say to Michelle on the phone?
John: You're beautiful!
JM: Do you think she had any idea she would live in the white house one day?
JK: Yeah.

P.T. Prefers drawing computers to....

The soft scratchy sound of the Sharpie fills the media lab as P.T.'s blue marker fills the screen with broad swatches of color. "I like Blue like my i pod." Its a Mini I ask her how she recharges the i pod because I can't see a input. She tells me reassuringly "its at my home" referring to the cable. "aha i see." still not sure where the I/O interface is on this tiny little sapphire lozenge.

Tarik is hiding

Has anyone seen Tarik? Where did Tarik go? Sometimes the yellow crayon bucket is not just for storing crayons but also an excellent place to hide.

mural progress

Today Brian and I took some pictures while Mike, Luke and Bobby helped continue painting the red base coat. John King worked on re-defining a couple of the figures and began painting features on one of the faces. Here he is with one of his reference drawings temporarily affixed to the mural. Mike and Luke had a lively discussion regarding the significance of the color red. Of course Luke likes the blood reference, whereas Mike (in his usual cheerful fashion) insists that red is for Christmas.
